The Right Direction in Flooring

Tile

Tile is an option for many surfaces other than floors; think backsplashes, countertops, walls, or shower stalls.
Ceramic or Porcelain Tile is available in multiple colors and patterns. It can be installed over any other surface providing that the surface is level. You can design the look that you want from traditional, modern, to a design all your own.
Tile is very easy to maintain; generally just sweep and mop. Tile is very durable and can be replaced easily if it is broken.

There are a few things you should keep in mind as you choose tile:

  • Through-body porcelain means that the color or pattern is throughout the body of the tile while glazed tile has the color only on the top layer of the tile.
  • If a tile becomes chipped it is less noticeable in a through body porcelain tile.
  • Ceramic tiles tend to be softer, but are also less expensive while remaining very durable.
  • Ceramic Tile is perfect for low traffic areas.
  • While glossy glazed tiles are very attractive, they are more slippery and show wear a little more readily.
  • Porcelain Tiles are stain resistant and the perfect option for outdoor or commercial settings.
  • Always purchase a little more than needed because patterns, colors, and styles may become discontinued over time.
